Darlene O’Neal, Board Member
Darlene O’Neal brings over three decades of Kansas City area experience and diverse professional expertise to her role with SITE, where she is committed to being a valuable asset to the nonprofit housing developer’s mission.
Her career began in banking after transferring from Boatmen’s Bank in Springfield, Missouri, where she spent ten years before transitioning to various banking positions. This foundation led to an 18-year tenure with MGE/Spire, where she developed and maintained comprehensive filing systems in Senior Accounts Services. In this role, she investigated customer account issues to restore services and represented the company in court proceedings based on her investigative findings.
Beyond her technical expertise, Darlene demonstrated strong leadership as Vice President of her local union unit, serving as both Union Steward and Unit Secretary for IBEW Local 53. This experience honed her skills in advocacy, organization, and member representation.
Following early retirement, Darlene played a key role in opening a TJ Maxx store in South Kansas City and has maintained her position as Administrator Coordinator for nine years. Simultaneously, she has been building her own bookkeeping business, focused on helping other entrepreneurs establish and grow their ventures.
Darlene views her involvement with SITE as an opportunity for continued growth and knowledge expansion while contributing to the organization’s future development and bringing new participants into their important community work
